About the Distillery
WhistlePig was founded in 2007 on a quiet farm in Shoreham, Vermont, with a vision to redefine rye whiskey. After purchasing a run-down dairy farm, the team—led by founder Raj Peter Bhakta and master distiller Dave Pickerell—sourced high-quality aged rye from Canada to kickstart the brand. In 2015, they completed their transformation into a fully independent distillery, converting a historic barn into a production hub where everything from grain to glass is managed on-site. The 500-acre estate grows its own rye, draws spring water from the land, and even uses Vermont oak trees to craft barrels.
Today, WhistlePig is known for its bold, spicy, and complex rye whiskies, produced with a distinctive “triple terroir” approach—using grain, water, and wood all from the same farm. Their copper stills, lovingly named Mortimer and Mauve, symbolize the brand’s playful spirit, which is echoed in their pig-themed labels and limited editions. From the core 10-Year Rye to the Farmstock series and the collectible Boss Hog releases, WhistlePig has earned its place as a trailblazer in American craft whiskey.
