SMWS The Five Regions 11 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml, 50% ABV)
$199.00
A celebration of all five of Scotland's whisky-producing regions, The Five Regions is a small-batch blended malt from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Roughly half the blend is Highland malt, rounded out by Speyside, Islay (both peated and unpeated, sherry-matured), Campbeltown and a touch of Lowland malt.
Its story starts with an extra-large batch the Society's whisky creation team made for its 2025 release, Wandering Alchemy. Half was bottled at the time; the rest went back into a selection of the original bourbon, oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and HTMC hogsheads for one more year of marrying. The result is an 11-year-old blend that's richer and more layered: sweet wines and desserts up front, with a gentle thread of smoke underneath.
Bottled at 50% ABV, The Five Regions is an SMWS release that's rarely found outside the Society itself. Try it neat first, then add a few drops of water to open up the flavours.

Tasting Notes
- Colour:
- Nose: Fudge doughnuts, custard, boozy chocolate truffles and glacé cherries, with older notes of wood varnish, teak oil, leather and wooden potpourri.
- Palate: Smoky cedar incense, then heather, wild lavender honey and caramelised apple. With water: Ripe and dried fruit in the style of vin santo, dark chocolate-covered macadamias, nutmeg, star anise and freshly roasted coffee; silky and slightly tangy.
- Finish: Like a walnut romesco with smoked paprika.
