The Balvenie 12yo Sweet Toast American Oak Single Malt Whisky (700ml, 43% ABV)

Price

$199.00

The Sweet Toast of American Oak is the first release in The Balvenie Stories, a range that celebrates the people and moments behind one of Speyside's most celebrated distilleries.

The idea came from Kelsey McKechnie, then an apprentice malt master, who proposed importing virgin American oak barrels from Kentucky to create a fruitier, sweeter Balvenie. The barrels were deeply toasted at the distillery's own cooperage, then filled with Balvenie that had already matured in traditional ex-bourbon casks, for a finishing period.

The result is a lusciously malty dram with sweet fudge, candied citrus peel, vanilla toffee and blossom honey, rounded off with gentle oak spice. Rich and approachable, it's a great example of how cask choices shape a whisky's character.

Enjoy as you please – neat, over ice or with a splash of water.

About the Distillery

Founded in 1892 by William Grant, The Balvenie Distillery stands proudly in Dufftown, Speyside, as one of Scotland’s most revered producers of single malt whisky. What sets The Balvenie apart is its rare dedication to traditional craftsmanship—still growing its own barley, operating its own floor maltings, and employing a team of coopers and coppersmiths on site. This vertical integration allows complete control over every stage of production, resulting in whiskies of remarkable consistency, depth, and character.

Under the long-standing stewardship of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie has become synonymous with gentle honeyed sweetness, layers of vanilla and spice, and an unmistakable warmth that speaks of its handcrafted nature. Each expression—from the approachable DoubleWood to the opulent PortWood and beyond—reflects both heritage and innovation, embodying the timeless art of Speyside whisky-making perfected over more than a century.
