An intensely aromatic and richly layered expression from The Lakes Distillery, The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.6 is the penultimate release in the distillery’s journey to define its signature sherry-led style. Principally matured in carefully selected Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks crafted from Spanish and American oak, No.6 places exotic spice and delicate floral notes at the forefront while retaining the bold, rich character for which The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series is known.
Rich and mellow on the palate, with sun-dried dates, toasted teacake and gentle spice, No.6 offers a distinctly different personality from the releases around it — aromatic, complex and wonderfully expressive.
The Whiskymaker’s Reserve is an artistic exploration of oak and blending; of flavour evolution and defining a house style. Creating a new whisky requires a framework of sorts, but there has to be room within it to play, to follow gut feeling and instinct. The architecture of each release of Whiskymaker’s Reserve will evolve in keeping with both the distillery's increasing sherry cask influence and their sense of adventure.
