Penderyn Myth Single Malt Welsh Whisky (700ml, 40% ABV)

Price

$109.00

From Penderyn's "Dragon" series, Myth is matured in the same rejuvenated oak casks as Penderyn Rich Oak - known as STR casks because they have been shaved, toasted and re-charred - and is bottled at 40% ABV.

Fresh and lively, it brings mixed citrus, apple, pear drops and a hint of tropical fruit, with a sweet palate that gives way to a refreshing bitterness and a light, easy-drinking finish. Penderyn describes it as a whisky built for everyday drinking, not just special occasions - and often the one people start with before moving on to Rich Oak. It is also Kosher certified.

The Red Dragon is the national flag of Wales and the Royal Welsh badge bears the motto, ‘Y ddraig goch ddyry cychwyn’, which translates as ‘The red dragon inspires action.’ It features in ancient Welsh tales and was the battle standard of legendary Welsh princes. Welshman Henry Tudor took the flag to Bosworth, where, in 1485, he became the last king of England to be crowned on the battlefield.

The Penderyn Dragon is reborn!

The Penderyn Dragon whisky range was first introduced in 2015. This update helps to elevate the Dragon range, offering a stylish and sophisticated bottle and gift carton, with a great award-winning whisky inside! Not only will the newly redesigned packaging allow this range to stand out, the distillery has also chosen a lighter bottle (less glass) and reduced weight in the carton, therefore making it more environmentally sustainable too.

About the Distillery

Penderyn Distillery, located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in Wales, holds a unique place in whisky history as the first to reintroduce Welsh single malt production in over a century. Established in 2000, Penderyn brought new life to a long-dormant tradition with a distinctive approach to distillation. Using a custom-designed copper still known as the Faraday still, the distillery produces a light, fruity, and elegant spirit that stands apart for its purity and precision. Crystal-clear mountain spring water and carefully selected casks—such as Madeira, sherry, and bourbon—further shape Penderyn’s signature style.

Today, Penderyn’s award-winning portfolio includes a broad range of single malts, from their classic Madeira finish to peated and port wood expressions, as well as the Dragon series and a collection of gins and liqueurs. With expansion sites now operating in Llandudno and Swansea, the distillery continues to grow its global presence while staying deeply connected to Welsh identity and craft. Their welcoming visitor centres and strong focus on education and tourism make Penderyn not just a producer of fine whisky, but a proud ambassador of modern Welsh spirit-making.
